Strong Nico Denz powers to 4th in Tour du Romandie prolog time trial

A just under 7km individual time trial opened the Tour du Romandie today in the western parts of Switzerland. As one of the first riders Nico Denz showed an impressive performance and clocked a 7:29 which was for more than an hour the provisionally best time. In the end J. Cerny was 4 seconds faster than Nico, but still it was a promising start for BORA – hansgrohe as also Bob Jungels and Ben Zwiehoff put themselves in a good position for the upcoming days.

From the finish line

“I knew my shape is good and therefore wanted to give it a go. To be honest, I am also surprised by the result. I had good legs and found a strong rhythm which I was able to hold until the line. When you take the hot seat and wait there for such a long time it is of course not nice to have to leave it in the end, but the others have been clearly faster. Even without the small problem on the last 200m I wouldn’t have taken the win. So for me it is a good feeling to take my first ever top 5 result in a TT on WorldTour level.” – Nico Denz
