On the fourth day in Catalunya, a 188.2km long stage from Llívia to Sabadell was on the program. A first category climb right after the start was followed by topographically easier terrain on the way to the finish line 20km north of Barcelona. A breakaway of five riders put their mark on the race but was ultimately brought back with only 4km to go. K. With some serious climbing but also 10 flat kilometers into the finish, stage 3 of the Settimana Coppi e Bartali promised to be an interesting one. In the beginning several riders tried to go clear from the bunch but it took quite some time before nine riders formed a breakaway. For BORA – hansgrohe Patrick Gamper was part of this group which survived until the final climb of the day. There, attacks started again and finally a trio went away to battle for the stage win. Ben Zwiehoff managed to be part of a first chasing group and finished again among the top contenders while B. Healy took the win from the front group.&nbsp;&nbsp;Results01 B. Healy 3:29:0602 D. But I had to pay for this effort on the last climb. I almost made it when Pozzovivo attacked but missed that little bit. Still, I am happy with my performance. The steep climb had also a gravel section, and in the finale the bunch broke into pieces there. Gampi showed moral today as he was already dropped, but when he came back, he directedly attacked and was then part of the leading group of nine riders. Mit einem durchaus anspruchsvollen Streckenprofil, allerdings 10 flachen Kilometern in Richtung Ziel, versprach Etappe drei der Settimana Coppi e Bartali heute einen spannenden Rennverlauf. Obwohl abermals einige Fahrer früh attackierten, dauert es lange, bevor sich letztlich neun Fahrer vom Feld absetzen konnten. Mit Patrick Gamper war auch heute ein Fahrer von BORA – hansgrohe an der Spitze mit dabei und die Gruppe konnte sich bis zum letzten Anstieg des Tages vorne behaupten. Dort kam es zu Attacken unter den Favoriten und drei Fahrer konnten sich entscheidend absetzen. Ben Zwiehoff schaffte den Sprung in die erste Verfolgergruppe und erreichte das Ziel einmal mehr unter den Favoriten auf die Gesamtwertung. Den Sieg holte sich B. Im Finale haben mir aber genau die Körner dann gefehlt. Ich war bei Pozzovivo fast dran, aber das letzte Stück hat eben gefehlt. Cobblestone sectors on narrow roads, rain and wind-prone passages were sure to toughen up this one-day race in Belgium. In a star-studded field of sprinters, BORA - hansgrohe had planned to back Sam Bennett. However, his form was not at 100 per cent after having recovered from recent illness, in addition to his crash at Milano-Sanremo, and he ultimately had to abandon the race. As the peloton split under tough weather conditions with about 50km remaining, Jonas Koch found himself in the lead group of 18 riders. Despite a flat tire at an inopportune moment shortly ahead of the finale, the German managed to catch up with the leaders again. He ultimately crossed the finish line in 16th place after J. Pflastersektoren auf engen Straßen, Regen und windanfällige Passagen erschwerten das 211 km lange belgische Eintagesrennen. BORA - hansgrohe hatte heute eigentlich auf Sam Bennett gesetzt, dessen Form aber nach einer kürzlich überstandenen Krankheit und seinem Sturz bei Mailand-Sanremo noch nicht wieder bei 100 Prozent war und deshalb das Rennen vorzeitig aufgeben musste. Als sich das Feld unter schweren Wetterbedingungen mit ungefähr 50 km bis zum Ziel teilte, befand sich Jonas Koch in der Spitzengruppe von 18 Fahrern. Trotz eines Reifenschadens zu einem ungünstigen Zeitpunkt kurz vor dem Finale, gelang es dem Deutschen wieder auf die Spitze aufzuschließen, bei der letzten Selektion verpasste er aber den Anschluss. The stage win came down to the final two kilometres of the last climb. Only P. Roglič was able to follow R. Evenepoel's decisive attack. 15 seconds behind, Cian Uijtdebroeks and Jai Hindley fought for positions on the stage and in the overall classification. With the victory of R. Evenepoel, Hindley crossed the finish line in 4th, Uijtdebroeks secured his next top 10 result and finished in 8th. On another hilly day at Settimana Coppi e Bartali Florian Lipowitz joined today’s five men breakaway. Florian rode a strong race being able to drop three of his companions on the final laps of the finishing circuit around Longiano. When the peloton pushed the gap under one minute on the last 10 kilometers some riders bridged across to the leaders. Still, Florian managed to hang on a new 7-men-group and just lost contact on the final uphill stretch. He finished the race in 7th place after a strong and bold performance.&nbsp;&nbsp;Results01 S. My legs have been good, and I pushed the pace in the breakaway on the last 30 kilometers. On the penultimate climb a group of six riders bridged across from the bunch but I was still able to hang on. We rode offensive from the gun and had in all breakaway attempts someone in. After some time finally the group with Florian went clear and he really rode a strong race. Auf den Zielrunden in Longiano konnte er drei seiner Fluchtgefährten abhängen und war immer noch in der Lage sich zu behaupten, als einige Fahrer auf den letzten 10 Kilometern vom Feld zur Spitze aufschließen konnten. Erst im letzten Anstieg zum Ziel musste Florian abreißen lassen und erreichte das Ziel als starker Siebenter nach einem langen Tag an der Spitze des Rennens.&nbsp;&nbsp;Ergebnisse01 S. Am Ende musste ich natürlich für die Arbeit den ganzen Tag über etwas Tribut zollen und konnte das Tempo im Schlussanstieg nicht mehr halten. Stage 2 of the Volta Catalunya took the peloton over a distance of 164.5km from Mataró towards the Pyrenees and the skiing resort of Vallter. Today’s stage also saw the first of three mountain finishes this week. On the final 22km climb, the day's breakaway was caught by the peloton before the GC favourites got into position. Cian Uijtdebroeks and Jai Hindley made it to the final, steep kilometre within the first group, but weren’t able to follow the decisive attacks of R. Evenepoel. Hindley and Uijtdebroeks crossed the finish line in 9th and 10th, 15 seconds behind the stage winner G. Ciccone. Am zweiten Tag der Katalonien-Rundfahrt stand bereits die erste von insgesamt drei Bergankünften in dieser Woche auf dem Programm. Auf 164,5km führte die Etappe von Mataró nach Vallter, einer Skistation in den Pyrenäen. Am 22km langen Schlussanstieg wurde zuerst die Ausreißergruppe des Tages vom Peloton gestellt, ehe sich die Favoriten um die Gesamtwertung in Position brachten.&nbsp; Cian Uijtdebroeks und Jai Hindley kamen mit der ersten Gruppe auf den letzten, steilen Kilometer, mussten aber nach mehreren Attacken von R. A quite undulated profile awaited the riders at the opening day of the Settimana Coppi e Bartali. An early break was caught with about 30km remaining and in a counterattack R. Cavagna went clear from the bunch. BORA – hansgrohe missed that decisive move as Cavagna couldn’t been brought back and took a solo victory. The seven day long Volta a Catalunya (2.UWT) kicked off with a hilly, 164.6km stage around the town of Sant Feliu de Guíxols. The first stage offered a rare chance for the fast men but ultimately they had to admit defeat to the climbers in the draggy uphill finish. With the victory going to P. Roglič, Ide Schelling secured a strong 3rd and thereby also his first podium finish of the season. Patrick Konrad was involved in a crash with 5.5km to go but was able to finish the stage. Today,&nbsp;La Primavera took the riders over almost 300 km from Milan to Sanremo. In contrast to previous years, tailwinds&nbsp;were predicted for the decisive section along the coast to Sanremo, which is why a particularly tough finale was expected. BORA - hansgrohe positioned itself at the front of the peloton about 50 km ahead of the finish, but a crash involving Sam Bennett and Cesare Benedetti put the team a little behind. After the peloton split on the Cipressa, an attack by Nils Polit on the flat section before the Poggio unfortunately remained unsuccessful. On the last climb the main group split again and in the end Marco Haller and Nils Politt reached the finish in the third group in 17th and 21st place. The victory went to M. Im Gegensatz zu den letzten Jahren war für den entscheidenden Teil an der Küste nach Sanremo heute Rückenwind vorhergesagt, weshalb ein besonders hartes Finale erwartet wurde. BORA – hansgrohe positionierte sich rund 50 km vor dem Ziel an der Spitze des Feldes, durch einen Sturz von Sam Bennett und Cesare Benedetti geriet das Team aber etwas ins Hintertreffen. Nachdem an der Cipressa das Feld ein erstes Mal auseinanderflog, blieb eine Attacke von Nils Polit im Flachstück vor dem Poggio leider erfolglos. Im letzten Anstieg teilte sich die Hauptgruppe ein weiteres Mal und am Ende erreichten Marco Haller und Nils Politt das Ziel in der dritten Gruppe auf den Rängen 17 und 21. Den Sieg holte M. Es ist fast unmöglich, da halbwegs Position zu fahren, weil man muss auch ein paar Körner sparen. Ich bin dann fast als letzter in den Poggio. Meine Beine waren gut und ich bin eigentlich immer weiter nach vorne gekommen. Aber wenn dann Lücken aufgehen, bist du einfach da, wo du bist. Am Ende hätten wir die zweite Gruppe fast noch eingeholt. Ich habe meinen Sprint wahrscheinlich auch darum etwas zu früh angezogen und drei oder vier Leute sind an der Linie noch an mir vorbei.“ –&nbsp;Marco Haller&nbsp;„Ich hatte heute wirklich gute Beine. Am Poggio ging vor mir eine Lücke auf und ich dachte, mit Asgreen in der Gruppe warte ich noch bis ganz oben. Aber irgendwie konnte niemand mehr. Ich ärgere mich, denn ich hatte mehr drauf. Auch bei der Attacke vor dem Poggio wollte niemand fahren. Es fühlt sich an, als wäre ich heute immer zur falschen Zeit am falschen Ort gewesen. Das einzig Positive ist, dass die Form diesmal vor den Rennen in Belgien zu stimmen scheint.“ –&nbsp;Nils Politt&nbsp;„Ich kann den Jungs eigentlich keinen Vorwurf machen. Wir waren an den entscheidenden Stellen vorne und natürlich wussten wir, dass wir hier nicht die Topfavoriten sind. Darum wollten wir smart fahren, Kräfte sparen und für eine Überraschung sorgen. Als CeCe und Sam gestürzt sind, war das natürlich sehr unglücklich. Erstens hatten wir auf Sam im Sprint gehofft, aber vor allem hat es unser Team genau vor der Cipressa durcheinandergebracht. Nach dem Anstieg hatten wir nur noch Nils und Marco vorne. Nils hat es versucht, aber niemand wollte ihm folgen. Das war schade, wir wollten für etwas Chaos sorgen, aber niemand hat sich aus der Ruhe bringen lassen und alleine war das sinnlos. Am Ende waren beide trotzdem nah an den Top Ten.
