Aleksandr Vlasov wins final time trial and takes overall victory at Tour de Romandie

The final stage featured a time trial starting in Aigle and running along a flat course for the first 5 km before the riders had to contest the final 10 km on an uphill terrain to the finish town of Villars. Today the fight for the overall win would be decided, as the time gaps between the favorites were small. Aleks Vlasov, who was 18 seconds behind the then-leader R. Dennis before the stage, had a good chance for a podium position today and he certainly did not disappoint. Aleks started third last and set the best intermediate time before crossing the finish line with an outstanding time of 33:40:33, some 31 seconds faster than the second-placed S. Geschke. With this stage win, Aleks also secured the overall victory, his second GC win for the team from Raubling and his first WorldTour stage and GC victory. BORA - hansgrohe concluded the Tour de Romandie very successfully with Felix Großschartner's 3rd place in the prologue, a stage win by Sergio Higuita, as well as a second place on stage 4, today's win in the individual time trial and the general classification with Aleks Vlasov.

From the Finish Line

"My goal today was to win the GC and I did my best and I am super happy with the outcome. Yesterday was a good day with my second place but it was sort of a warm up for today. I am already in good form and I was very concentrated on my goal in the time trial. Today’s stage was most important as my objective was of course to win the general classification. I was pretty confident and I just tried to deliver a good time and ride very strong in order to take the GC." - Aleksandr Vlasov

"The last stage, the time trial, ended exactly as we had wished and hoped for. We also believed that such an outcome would be possible and so it is doubly nice that our goal to take the overall victory has also been reached. Aleks rode a super time trial and it was a deserved win, which we are of course very pleased with." - Rolf Aldag, Sports Director
