After 25 km a group of 12 riders went clear from the bunch, including Pascal Ackermann and Michael Schwarzmann. For most parts of the day the gap of the leading group was stable at 3:30, before on the last 25 km several attacks were launched with also Michael Schwarzmann leading the race for some kilometers. From the Finish Line

"We tried our best from the gun today. Of course, we knew it will be difficult to make it to the line when I was part of that front group, but you never know if you don’t try. I felt quite good on the climbs as there have been no real climbers at the front. I did my best until the end, so there is nothing to regret." – Michael Schwarzmann

"Well, we wanted to ride offensive today and all the guys really tried their best to grab that stage win for us. It didn’t work out, but we can be proud of the moral they showed. Nils was in one of the first groups without success and then a group with Pascal and Schwarzi went away. Schwarzi really gave his all until the end, but it wasn’t enough unfortunately." – Jean-Pierre Heynderickx, Sports Director
