A newcomer and a known youngster: BORA - hansgrohe presents Jonas Koch and Luis-Joe Lührs starting in 2022

While Koch is a newcomer who’ll be on a two-year contract, Lührs comes from our own U19 team Auto Eder. He’ll now be able to prove himself among the professionals and has signed a contract until the end of 2024 in order to achieve this. After his successful switch from MTB, Ben Zwiehoff's contract has also been extended by one year.

"We have presented predominantly international newcomers so far, but of course it is important for us as a German team to also have a corresponding number of German riders within the squad. Through our U19 team Auto Eder, we are also doing a lot of work with young talent and that's why I'm very pleased that we’re now able to give Luis-Joe a chance at BORA - hansgrohe. Only time will tell how he’ll be able to develop as a racer, but he definitely has the necessary skills and also the tools to establish himself in the pro ranks. The work done in our U19 team has definitely paid off, with Cian Uijtdebroeks also being able to make the step up. I'm hoping for a lot over the coming years. Jonas has already made this step. He is an excellent all-rounder, who we’ll be able to use on a variety of terrains and in different roles. Whether in the sprints as a lead-out rider, or as a helper in the Classics, Jonas will provide important support. I think that Ben has made the transition to the road very well. He’s not only a good climber, but he has also been able to support our leaders very well on the flat, which was surprising, but of course pleasing. After a good spring, he unfortunately suffered a setback with a broken collarbone, but now at the Vuelta he will again be providing crucial services to the team and we’d like that to continue in the future." - Ralph Denk, Team Manager

"I’m of course very happy to be riding with BORA - hansgrohe for the next few years. After some instructive years abroad, it’s now wonderful to ride for a German team. Moreover, the team is among the very best in the WorldTour, and that represents yet another step for me. I’m aiming to develop as a helper and contribute to the success of the team. I don't think it will be difficult for me to get used to the team because I already know a lot of the guys." - Jonas Koch

"After two successful seasons in BORA – hansgrohe’s junior team Team Auto Eder, I’m proud to be able to race in the jersey of the professional team for the next three years. I’d like to use the opportunity to develop in the best possible way over the coming years and I'm looking forward to contributing to the team's successes." - Luis- Joe Lührs

"I’m very happy about the trust that the team has placed in me. The amount of experience I was able to gain during my first season was enormous and I am absolutely ready to take the next step with BORA - hansgrohe in 2022! The motivation is huge. Trust the process." - Ben Zwiehoff
