BORA – hansgrohe finishes 5th in Czech Tour opening team time trial

This year’s Czech Tour, a four-day stage race, got underway with an opening team time trial around Uničov. With a total length of 18,1 kilometres, the stage was relatively short but due to a longer climb in the middle of the course and several difficult corners still challenging and very technical. BORA – hansgrohe started as 16th out of 21 teams and Erik Baska, Matteo Fabbro, Martin Laas, Pawel Poljanski, Lukas Pöstlberger, Juraj Sagan and Ide Schelling gave their best in the race against the clock. The team worked very well together and showed a solid performance on the hilly course. In the end, BORA – hansgrohe finished in fifth place, 31 seconds behind winner Mitchelton-Scott.

From the Finish Line

"With six WorldTour and several very good Pro teams, the competition at this year’s Czech Tour is very strong. Our goal was to finish on the podium which was not easy on this very difficult course – especially since our line-up is more focussed on the flat and hilly stages instead of this opening team time trial. In the end, we missed the top 3 only by 6 seconds, that’s why we’re still very happy with our performance. We’re now looking forward to the next stages which should suit us more." – Jens Zemke, Sports Director
