The Italian race “Coppa Agostoni” took off a fast start, starting at the city of Lissone. The race took the peloton on a 200km circuit with some climbs on the last 40km. BORA – hansgrohe riders Shane Archbold and Leopold König celebrated their Comeback at this race.

After some kilometers of racing, Shane Archbold managed to stay in today´s breakaway with other 5 riders. Soon they had an advantage of more than 5 minutes, but 60km before the finish the breakaway was caught by the reduced peloton. Only a duo could stay in front of the race. Leopold König showed also a good performance but abandoned the race some kilometers before the finish and focus now on tomorrow´s race.

But the pack closed the gap two kilometers before the finish and the sprint of the small group was set up. In this group was also BORA – hansgrohe rider Cesare Benedetti. In the final sprint M. Albasini (Team Swiss) took the win ahead of M. Canola (Nippo-Vini Fantini). Cesare finished safely in this group.

Sports director, Jens Zemke said after the race, “Shane did a good job. He showed a well performance after a long break due to injury and he was also in today´s breakaway. In the finale, we had Cece in the group, he was good in shape today and sprinted in the top twenty.”
