Following his impressive performance at Paris-Nice two weeks ago (stage winner and 5th overall), Aleksandr Vlasov entered the Volta a Catalunya with high ambitions. In the end, he confirmed his strong form with another top result.Despite numerous attacks, today's seventh stage of the Volta a Catalunya saw no significant changes in the overall standings. BORA - hansgrohe's rider Aleksandr Vlasov finished the tour through Catalonia in fourth place in the general classification, 5:56 minutes behind the overall winner Tadej Pogačar."It was a really tough week, especially the last few days were very intense. In the end, I just narrowly missed the podium," Vlasov explained at the finish. Halfway through the race, the 27-year-old was in third place in the standings, but ultimately, he had to pay tribute to the demanding course of the race. "Nevertheless, I'm very satisfied with my form this spring. In the past few weeks, I've had really good legs."Indeed, Vlasov continued his impressive series of good results in Catalonia: After securing three podium finishes at the Mallorca Challenge, he also finished third in the Valencia Tour. This was followed by a stage win and a fifth place overall at Paris-Nice, along with the recent top result in Catalonia."After Paris-Nice, Aleks was in excellent shape. Nach seiner starken Performance vor zwei Wochen bei Paris-Nizza (Etappensieger und Gesamt-Fünfter) war Aleksandr Vlasov mit hohen Ambitionen in die Volta a Catalunya gestartet. Am Ende bestätigte er seine gute Frühjahrsform mit einer weiteren Top-Platzierung.Trotz zahlreicher Attacken gab es auf der heutigen siebten Etappe keine größeren Veränderungen mehr in der Gesamtwertung der Volta a Catalunya. BORA - hansgrohe Fahrer Aleksandr Vlasov beendete die Rundfahrt durch Katalonien damit auf Rang vier in der Gesamtwertung, 5:56 Minuten hinter dem Gesamtsieger Tadej Pogačar.“Das war eine wirklich harte Woche, vor allem die letzten Tage waren sehr intensiv. Am Ende habe ich das Podium leider knapp verpasst”, erklärte Vlasov im Ziel. Zur Halbzeit des Rennens hatte der 27-Jährige noch den dritten Rang im Klassement belegt, am Ende musste er der harten Belastung allerdings Tribut zollen. “Trotzdem kann ich mit meiner Form in diesem Frühjahr sehr zufrieden sein. With pouring rain outside the hotel, BORA - hansgrohe Sports Director Enrico Gasparotto decides to have another espresso and postpones the departure for training by an hour, the rain should subside by then.Lennard Kämna, Daniel Felipe Martínez, mechanic Mario Lexmüller and Enrico Gasparotto travelled to Tuscany a few days ahead of Strade Bianche. The reason being that the infamous the white gravel roads of Tuscany feature in the Giro d'Italia this year. The 6th stage from Torre del Lago Puccini to Rapolano Terme offers a spectacle for fans with three sections on notorious gravel roads. You won't win the Giro on this stage, but you can definitely lose it - so I'm glad to have seen some of the sections. We will also make some adjustments to the bike set-up on this day. We won't need double handlebar tape or special saddles like we use for Paris-Roubaix here. Compared to our normal set-up, the biggest difference from a technical point of view will be the tire pressure. The balance between comfort, grip on the gravel and the best possible rolling characteristics on the asphalt is crucial. In general, tire pressure is in the range of 5-7 bar. Depending on the weight of the rider, the weather and the nature of the gravel, we then adjust the air pressure in the tires individually. After the route presentation of a Grand Tour, I firstly take a look at the entire course to get an overview. As I now know many of the roads in Italy very well, I then try to find out in detail where new sections have been added. We analyse these and then decide whether to carry out a recon, i.e. a route inspection, together with the riders. The key here is to stay focused and be prepared for all scenarios. Der Grund: die weißen Schotterstraßen der Toskana sind in diesem Jahr auch Teil des Giro d’Italia. Die 6. Etappe von Torre del Lago Puccini nach Rapolano Terme bietet mit drei Abschnitten auf den berüchtigten Schotterpisten ein Spektakel für die Fans. Für die Profis und deren Teams stellen die 11km Strade Bianche im Giro d’Italia eine Herausforderung dar - um am 9. Nicht nur die Sektoren und deren Beschaffenheit selbst, auch die Kilometer vor den Schotterpassagen müssen wir uns gut einprägen.&nbsp;Die Etappe wird mit Sicherheit sehr hart. Neben den Beinen braucht es auch eine Portion Glück. Ein Defekt im falschen Moment kann dich aus dem Rennen um die Gesamtwertung werfen. Du gewinnst den Giro nicht auf dieser Etappe, kannst ihn aber definitiv verlieren - daher bin ich froh, einige Abschnitte besichtigt zu haben.&nbsp;Auch das Bike Set-up werden wir an diesem Tag etwas anpassen. Im Vergleich zu unserem normalen Set-up wird aus technischer Sicht der Reifendruck an diesem Tag den größten Unterschied darstellen. Die Balance zwischen Komfort und Grip auf dem Schotter und bestmöglicher Rolleigenschaft auf dem Asphalt ist entscheidend. Generell bewegen wir uns beim Reifendruck im Bereich von 5-7 bar. Abhängig vom Gewicht des Fahrers, dem Wetter und der Beschaffenheit des Schotters passen wir den Luftdruck im Reifen dann individuell an. Nach der Streckenpräsentation einer Grand Tour sehe ich mir zuerst den gesamten Parcours an und bekomme so einen Überblick. Da ich viele Straßen in Italien mittlerweile sehr gut kenne, versuche ich dann im Detail herauszufinden, wo neue Abschnitte eingebaut wurden. Diese analysieren wir und entscheiden im Anschluss, ob wir zusammen mit den Fahrern einen Recon, also eine Streckenbesichtigung, durchführen. Gravel sorgt oft für Chaos. Chaos wollen wir vor dem Finale definitiv vermeiden. Die Abschnitte sind relativ kurz, trotzdem wird es eine ziemlich harte Etappe, auf der viel passieren kann. Hier heißt es ganz klar: konzentrieren und auf alle Szenarien vorbereitet sein. In der Hotellobby schreibt Enrico Gasparotto Notizen nieder und markiert neuralgische Punkte der Strecke in der digitalen Etappen-Karte Veloviewer. Draußen begutachtet Mario Lexmüller die vom nassen Toskana-Schotter verdreckten Räder und prüft den Luftdruck.&nbsp;Hinter „Giro Gravel Recon“ kann ein Haken gesetzt werden.
